Varun Dhawan reunites with Badlapur director Sriram Raghavan to play Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal
Varun Dhawan, over the years, has shown a varied range of performances on the big screen. From drama to comedy, big-scale productions to relatable small-town stories, he has done it all. Now, he is taking up real-life role of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal in his next film which will be helmed by Sriram Raghavan and produced by Dinesh Vijan. Varun Dhawan reunites with Badlapur director Sriram Raghavan to play Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal Varun Dhawan said that it was always his dream to play a soldier. He said that when he heard the story of Arun Khetarpal, he was awed that this could have actually happened. He understood why Sriram Raghavan and Dinesh Vijan were so passionate to tell this story. When he met Arun Khetarpal's brother Mukesh, he was really moved. He said that he too has a brother but could not understand what Arun's brother must have gone through. He admits that they have to tell the story but it is their responsibility to tell it correctly. He further said that this film is the most important film of his career and he is excited to start work with Sriram again. He hopes that Indians will be proud to see this story unfold on the big screen. Sriram Raghavan researched on the story for six months. He said that this is a solid story told over two generations and they hope they can do justice to it. This film marks the reunion of Badlapur duo Varun Dhawan and Sriram Raghavan. The war hero was merely 21-years-old who showed courage and bravery and stood up against the Pakistani army during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. Arun Khetarpal was honoured with Param Vir Chakra, India's highest military decoration, awarded for displaying distinguished acts of valour during wartime.
