Hollywood actor Hugh Jackman's latest outing, The Son, received a thunderous standing ovation for a whole 10 minutes on Wednesday at the end of the screening in Venice International Film Festival.

According to Variety, Hugh Jackman and Laura Dern devastated the Venice Film Festival with the world premiere of Florian Zeller’s The Son.Jackman appeared visibly moved during the film’s reception, as did the audience. Jackman hugged his young co-star Zen McGrath amid the ovation.

According to the report, The Son centers on “a family as it falls apart and tries to come back together again,” according to Sony Pictures Classics’ official synopsis. Jackman stars as a father whose 17-year-old son comes to live with him after deciding he can no longer stay with his mother (Dern) years after his parents’ divorce.

Hugh Jackman along with co-stars Laura Dern, Vanessa Kirby, and Zen McGrath attended the screening of the movie. The Son is Zeller's sequel to The Father, which won two Oscars for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Actor for Anthony Hopkins. The Toronto International Film Festival, which begins on Thursday, September 8, will also screen The Son as one of its featured films.
